FODEP calls for Calm on the Ballot Paper Issue

FODEP calls for Calm on the Ballot Paper Issue

The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has noted the various media reports concerning the issue of the sample ballot paper which was allegedly found in the possession of the FODEP president, who is in Durban to monitor the printing of ballot papers.

We note that the issue has attracted a lot of media attention. We would like to appeal to the media to await the full determination of the matter by Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).  Continued issuance of statements on the matter may only cause unnecessary anxiety and undermine public confidence in the electoral process.

Further, we would like to appeal to the public and other stakeholders to remain calm as the matter is being considered by the relevant authorities. In this regard, FODEP will, in due course, update the public on the issue as and when we receive detailed information on the matter.

We wish to reiterate the fact that FODEP has no partisan interest in the electoral process and that our mandate is to promote free, fair and peaceful elections in Zambia.
